Job Title Manager, Maximum Benefit Life & Disability Claims Services

Job Description

As the Manager of Life & Disability Claims Services, your primary role is to build a stable, engaged and collaborative team of disability management professionals. We are looking for a leader who will continue to inspire and empower the team in their focus on delivering exceptional customer service.


You must support our trusting environment where each team member feels secure sharing their ideas, opinions or concerns with their leader. It is important for you to foster team collaboration and look for opportunities to coach, empower and engage the team. Communication and feedback must be provided with honesty, empathy and support.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of group insurance, disability coverage and living benefits. The position is responsible for the daily management of the Disability Claims team, dealing effectively with any complaints that are escalated to the Manager, reviewing and approving claim appeals handled by the Disability Claims Specialists, and other related duties.


The ideal candidate will bring the following skills to the position:



  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a minimum of 5 years of experience 

  • Knowledge and work experience in group insurance with a strong disability focus 

  • A solid understanding of how people go through change and the change process 

  • Advanced problem solving and conflict resolution skills 

  • Ability to coach and develop others 

  • Flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to new situations and issues as they arise and to generate effective solutions 

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
